Job Description Schweiger Vineyards, located at the top of the Spring Mountain District in St. Helena, is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our cellar staff. The candidate will assist our winemaker in many different aspects of the production process.

A minimum of two years’ experience is required. The job includes but is not limited to grape sampling, punchdowns, destemmer operations, shoveling out fermenters, barrel work, racking, topping, sur lies stirring, bottling, winery maintenance, and cleaning and sanitizing. Forklift experience and certification (especially driving barrels) is required. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English. The successful candidate must be computer literate as work orders are completed on your mobile device. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work well independently as well as being part of a team. The job is physically demanding and involves lifting 50+ Lbs, pulling, pushing, digging, climbing ladders or stairs, standing for long periods, and working outside in all weather conditions.

Direct to Consumer Sales is very important to Schweiger Vineyards. While this candidate will not be part of the tasting room staff, their ability and willingness to enhance the customer experience is essential. This includes, but is not limited to helping set up, host, and clean up customer events at the winery, assist tasting room staff with barrel tastings, explaining to tours what you are doing, helping stock tasting room inventory, and doing their part to make sure that all cellar areas are meticulously maintained for visitor safety and enjoyment.

Job Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
• Help maintain daily winery sanitation. A clean winery is a happy winery!
• Perform cellar work as assigned by Winemaker, including transfers, racking, blending, topping, barrel work/maintenance, etc.
• Perform select lab analysis under direction of Winemaker.
• Ability to recognize problems and report potential issues to Winemaker.
• Perform simple equipment maintenance throughout the cellar.
• Harvest activity including punch-downs, grape sampling, shuttling of bins.
• Periodic interaction with winery visitors.
• Able to arrive to work every day on time with a great attitude.
• Work with safety in mind at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Able to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
• Effective communication skills. Able to read/write and speak English fluently.
• Able to work hard and independently with a minimum of supervision.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and stand for 8 hours.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks
• Must have a valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Must enjoy working in a family environment.
• Must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination prior to first interview.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous harvest and cellar experience
• Undergraduate degree in Enology or related field.
• Previous forklift experience
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and stand
